A BETTER WORLD FOR ALL

A BETTER WORLD FOR ALL
by Marcus Eduardo de Oliveira (*)

Nearly 830 million people in the world are living in misery and 7 million children die each year as a result of the hunger. These persons live in squalid conditions of hunger, disease and desperation. This pandemic poverty represents the world’s most pernicious. Therefore, less than one per cent of what the world spent every year on weapons was needed to put every child into school.
In this moment, nearly 3% of the people in the world living in misery live in Brazil – one of the most inequitable countries in the world. Where few have a lot and most have nothing. This Brazil is not a poor country, but an unjust one.
Therefore, if we want stability on our planet, on our country, we must fight to end immediately poverty and misery. If we want prosperity for all, peace for the people, like say John Lennon in Imagine - 1971, alleviate absolute poverty, economic and development growth, like dreams all economists, human and social development in the world, like say all socialists and the Christianism, we must fight against hunger and all oppression – economic, politic and social.
We must fight against military action of United States in Iraq War. We must fight to end social exclusion. Why?
Because, in this moment, half the people in the world live on less than US$ 2 a day. Just only three families – Bill Gates, the Sultan of Brunei and the Walton’s Family – have a combined wealth of some US$ 135 billion. The richest 1% of the world have income equivalent to the poorest 57%. The richest 20% of the world population now receives 150 times the income of the poorest 20%.
Therefore, never lost the hope of someday to believe being to possible to create a better world. A world without poverty, hanger and inequality. A world with prosperity for all, no exception, independently the race, color, religion and, principally, economic conditions. We possess the wealth technology and knowledge to create a poverty free world. I’m sure attacking the inequality is possible to create a better world. A better world for all is possible. Everyone will be richer without poverty. Together, we can make a world of difference.
